Watch the inspiring story about a Trans Latina woman who has lived on the margins of society and is now an international leader and advocate.

Meet Bamby in person and view this inspirational documentary about a Trans Latina woman and renowned international leader and Trans community advocate. This is a testament to what is best in our humanity. The film covers Bamby’s choice to reshape her own destiny and that of the other marginalized communities by confronting systems of oppression that resulted in family rejection, police brutality, religious prejudice, and prison violence in Mexico and the U.S. The film powerfully educates the public about the courage and resilience of Trans people in the face of adversity.

Reception/Light Dinner from 6:00 - 7:00pm, followed immediately by the screening and Q&A

Join the Spiritual and Depth Psychology Specialization and the AULA Diversity Committee at this community social dreaming exercise that will help guide the University’s approach in future curriculum development that is increasingly sensitive to diversity.

Combining contemporary psychoanalytic and ancient shamanic views of the transformative power of dreams, this Friday evening gathering will allow for a first round of social dreaming. The following day, Saturday, dreams may be shared from the previous night which might particularly resonate to the powerful theme of this community event.

Facilitated by George Bermudez, PhD and Matthew Silverstein, PhD, this workshop offers 6 CEUs for LMFT and LCSW professionals. Held on the AULA campus, this event is free and open to the public but RSVPs are requested to: sdp.aula@antioch.edu

Join us for the 6th Annual Children’s Literature Conference and Horace Mann Upstanders Award, presented by the Education Department at Antioch University Los Angeles. Established in 2008, the Horace Mann Upstanders Book Award honors books in which the main character recognizes injustice and acts in a way to right the wrong. This award honors new children’s literature that best exemplifies the ideals of social action and in turn encourages young readers to become agents of change themselves.

The day will include conference breakout sessions and appearances by Upstander Awardees:
-Unspoken by Henry Cole, Horace Mann Upstanders Book Award
-Tomie dePaola, Lifetime Upstander Award
-Luis J. Rodriguez, Community Upstander Achievement Award
-Innosanto Nagara, Upstander New Talent Award
