Insight Out Speaker Series
NEUROSCIENCE OF MINDFULNESS

Dr. Lopsang Rapgay has been conducting groundbreaking research in the scientific study of classical mindfulness. In this talk he will focus primarily on how different phases of mindfulness training affect attention via changes in specific brain functions. He will also discuss findings in neuroscience contrasting popularized short-term and traditional longer term mindfulness techniques including relevant clinical implications.

Lobsang Rapgay, Ph.D. is a clinical and research psychologist, and Director of the Study on Sustained Attention, Working Memory and Meta-cognition in Anxiety and Attention Disorders, Department of Psychiatry UCLA. He is a native of Tibet and was a Tibetan Buddhist monk for 18 years and formally trained in Buddhist theory and practice.
