“Representing the City of Los Angeles in Public Art”

Event Description

This talk is part of the BA program workshop ART-490A/SOC-490, The City in Art, taught by Rosa Garza-Mourino MA.

During this presentation, Ms. Romero will share the process and details of her 2010 Urban Oasis, which is part of the Westlake/MacArthur Park Metro Station in the city of Los Angeles, and will talk as well about her current work in progress.

Sonia Romero is a full-time artist living and working out of Northeast Los Angeles. Public works include mural commissions for the Los Angeles County Arts Commission, the Los Angeles Metro (MacArthur Park Station), and the Community Redevelopement Agency. Exhibition highlights include her 2011 solo exhibition at the Vincent Price Art Museum, her debut solo show at the Avenue 50 Studio, and a print making retrospective at Self Help Graphics.
